Thermal Insulation

BGF manufactures woven and nonwoven fabric for thermal insulation applications. Techmat® and SilcoSoft® mat are the two primary products used for thermal insulation.

Techmat® for Thermal Insulation

Techmat is a mechanically bonded glass fiber insulation blanket that provides excellent thermal properties in temperatures up to 1200ºF. Techmat's low thermal conductivity makes it the perfect solution for hot or cold insulation applications.

Applications for Techmat® Thermal Insulation

BGF's products for thermal insulation are sold into many industrial markets including automotive, marine, filtration, and commercial for the following applications:

Characteristics of Techmat® Thermal Insulation

• Low thermal conductivity at temperatures to 1000ºF
• Conforms to irregular surfaces
• UL Listed – 0 flame spread 0-smoke generated
• Excellent vibration resistance – will not powder
• Excellent acoustical properties
• Non-alkaline
• Low chlorides & fluorides
• Will not contribute to metal corrosion
• Odorless – will not absorb odors
• Will not decay or sustain mold or vermin
• Moisture absorption negligible

SilcoSoft® for Thermal Insulation

SilcoSoft Mat is a nonwoven insulation blanket that provides superior thermal insulation at temperatures up to 2000 ºF . SilcoSoft is a soft, cotton-like blanket made from a remarkable new fiber by belChem Fiber Materials in Germany . SilcoSoft also provides excellent acoustical properties and it's non-dusting, non-irritating, non-respirable (9 micron) fleecy soft fiber provides safe and easy handling.

Configurations of Thermal Insulation

Techmat® and SilcoSoft® mat are sold in thicknesses from 1/4-1 inch. Standard roll widths are between 48” and 60” and roll lengths 25'-100'. Both Techmat and SilcoSoft are manufactured in a variety of configurations to meet the customer's specific thermal insulation requirements. Capabilities include:
